Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Location: USDA in Granite City, Illinois
Pay Rate: $21.36 per hour
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7am - 3:30pm; Shift: Full Time

Position Summary Reporting to the Project Manager, the Shipping & Receiving Clerk provides support to the Operations team that furthers our mission to help people who have different abilities to receive work support and development as needed — achieving the highest level of independence possible. The role accurately fills orders, ensures proper packaging, loads and unloads materials, and safely operates equipment including a forklift to maintain inventory organization. The clerk contributes to teamwork by training and helping co‑workers, communicating needs to the supervisor, and implementing feedback for improvement, performing duties with a special focus on safety, quality, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Order accuracy: verify that all orders are accurately filled; compare items and quantities against documents; count and bundle products.
Shipment packaging: ensure shipments are properly packaged, labeled with correct shipping information, and loaded into transportation vehicles; prepare and keep records of goods shipped.
Package coordination: coordinate packages for shipment using UPS, USPS, and FedEx delivery systems.
Inventory organization: maintain organization of inventory and products; ensure efficient loading & unloading; track & log shipment information; locate products throughout the warehouse; handle, drive, and maneuver a forklift when unloading and loading materials and supplies.
Promote a culture that advances the Company’s mission to provide work opportunities to individuals living with disabilities and disadvantages; display and promote Company values; maintain effective communication and positive relationships with co‑workers; perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Position Qualifications
High School diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
Must currently possess or be able to obtain Forklift Certification within 30 days of hire.
Driver's License (regular in IL, WI, OH, SC; Class E in MO).
Must pass criminal background check and various state and federal registry checks.
Must pass DCFS Abuse and Neglect Tracking System check.
Must pass driving history check and Company policy criteria; must drive Company vehicles/equipment as assigned to transport staff, clients or products.
