Coordinator of Middle School Ministry (Full Time) The Coordinator of Middle School Ministry is responsible for the evangelization and formation of middle school students as missionary disciples and for their integration into parish life. This includes planning, organizing, and leading students in their regular weekly faith formation as well as middle school sacrament preparation.

Responsibilities

Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. Helen Catholic Church in both your professional and personal life.

Research, develop, and propose a comprehensive curriculum for middle school students' regular faith formation and sacramental preparation in accordance with the Religious Education Guidelines and Evangelization Catechism Manual of the Diocese of Austin.

Collect and compile necessary documentation for those preparing for sacraments and enter information into sacramental record books.

Communicate with families in person and through the parish’s communication platforms weekly and monthly.

Schedule regular faith formation catechist meetings.

Recruit, train, and support catechists. Manage, coach, evaluate, and supervise volunteers and classes.

Ensure compliance with VIRTUS, safeguard children, and empower God's children's programs.

Manage books and supplies for middle school and sacrament preparation programs.

Maintain availability throughout the week to serve the needs of the parish—including pastor, staff, and volunteers—outside of normal church office hours; weekends and some evenings will be required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Formal catechetical training and formation (Level 1-2 catechist certification) and/or equivalent experience; 1 full‑time year or 2 part‑time years of experience working or volunteering in a Catholic parish, school or diocese in religious education.

Knowledge of or experience with OCIA adapted formation.

Bilingual English‑Spanish (proficient in writing, reading, and conversing).

Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.

Valid Texas driver’s license.

Compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.

Working Conditions

All employees of the parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church.

The parish is an at‑will employer.

All buildings and vehicles owned by the parish are tobacco free.

Work occurs in a fast‑paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.

Work on weekends, evenings, and some holidays may be required.

Exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech including Catholic Christian prayer and liturgical celebrations.

Adherence to established dress codes and conduct standards is required.

Personal vehicle may be required for off‑site locations.

Ministerial Character The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity at St. Helen Catholic Church – Georgetown, Texas, which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. To fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares his mission with them and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Positions employed at St. Helen Catholic Church—Georgetown, Texas—help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description, thereby closely connecting the employee to the Pastor and the ministry of the Church.
