Carlson Tool & Manufacturing Corp. is looking for an experienced Tool Maker with a desire to lead and mentor others to join our talented team of 70+ skilled Machinists and Toolmakers in our climate‑controlled, advanced manufacturing facilities located in Cedarburg, WI.

What You’ll Do You’ll play a key role in the design, build, refurbishment, and reverse engineering of plastic injection molds that serve industries like Automotive, Medical, Plastic Packaging, Battery, and beyond. As a Lead Tool Maker, you’ll guide projects through the shop without the need to write plans or purchase material. You will focus on toolmaking while providing hands‑on direction to fellow Tool Makers and mentoring apprentices — all in collaboration with a supportive and experienced team.

What You’ll Bring To The Table

10+ years of experience as a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker is required

Proven expertise in Plastic Injection Molds is required

The ability to train and mentor others is required

The ability to read, interpret, and analyze engineering designs and CAD models

A Day In The Life

Collaborate with project leader(s) and direct our team of Tool Makers

Provide guidance, mentorship, and hands‑on training to apprentices and team members

Analyze specifications, set up and operate machine tools, and fit/assemble components to fabricate and repair metalworking dies

Lead plastic injection mold builds from start to finish

Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized
