Description The position is responsible for being part of the hatcheries embrex processes. This may include pulling eggs from setters, running them through the clear egg remover, pulling rots, ensuring that each egg is vaccinated properly and that all eggs get placed in the correct hatchers. The position is typically scheduled but not limited to Friday, Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday 5:00pm to 3:00am.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Partake in the hatchery quality control program, animal welfare, biosecurity and safety programs.

Comply with the company’s low transfer crack assessment expectations.

Ensure that the correct eggs are being pulled and placed into the correct hatchers.

Work in an environment of 100+ degrees for long periods of time and withstand unpleasant smells.

Lift or push or pull 50 lbs. or more repeatedly; ability for continuous standing, walking, frequent lifting, turning, twisting, bending, squatting, pushing, grasping, kneeling, reach forward, pulling stretching.

Responsible for set up and cleanup of the process, halls, and setters.

Stay until all duties of the hatchery team are complete to verify quality.

Be trained and able to fill in for any team member absenteeism.

Ensure a safe, efficient and economical operation by explaining and guiding team members in their duties; participate with active safety monitoring and reporting of all team members and all areas of the hatchery.

May be asked to participate in the egg set process, transfer and processing of chicks for deliveries and be the lead for any questions or concerns that need to be brought to supervisors or managers; may be asked to learn how to navigate MTECH program.

Maintain detailed documentation on transfer or processing, record keeping for vaccine tracking and egg placement throughout the transfer process and into the hatchers and/or setters.

Monitor all machines, automation, and equipment for proper operation; document findings, take action where indicated; make adjustments as necessary or inform Supervisor/Maintenance when equipment performance is deficient.

Help create and implement training guides with new team members and/or refresher training for current team members.

Cross train in other hatchery positions.

All other duties assigned per hatchery leadership team; may work nights/days, holidays, or weekends.

Observe & enforce all company personnel, quality, safety and food safety policies.

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with customers, clients, coworkers and leadership teams.

Do not leave the premises until job is complete.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Training required as provided by automation and incubation vendors as well as internal trainers and management.

Ability to communicate effectively with others in a manner that maintains harmony with co‑workers.

Must be able to work schedule outlined above.

Must not raise any poultry or birds.

Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English (preferred).

Ability to work with minimal supervision.
