POSITION SUMMARY The Industrial Mechanic I performs highly skilled mechanical work in the installation, inspection, modification, fabrication, diagnosis, and repair of Plant-wide industrial systems and equipment. Mechanical expertise and skillsets desirable for this role include millwright experience, machinist experience, welding and cutting experience, and fabrication of mechanical components. The Industrial Mechanic I also assists in the development and execution of the Preventive Maintenance program and engages in training activities.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to : Process Maintenance Supervisor

Direct Reports: None; however, may assist in the training and direction of onsite work of other crew members, as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Adhere to the requirements in the most current and applicable version of City of Englewood Administrative Policy Manual and / or the Englewood Employees Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Maintain and promote satisfactory and harmonious relationships with the public and other employees; exhibit a high degree of professionalism, initiative, and tact on an ongoing and continual basis.

Actively engage and participate in SPR Safe Program

Assist with ordering materials to facilitate the scheduled completion of assigned work.

Install, modify, maintain, rebuild, repair, and inspect complex industrial equipment such as gearboxes, pumps, fans, compressors, motors, chemical systems, material handling equipment, compressed air supply systems, boilers and other wastewater treatment equipment.

Perform precision machine alignments on equipment including electric motors.

Fabricate / machine components using mill, lathe, ironworker, welders, oxy / acetylene torch, plasma cutter, bandsaws, and grinders

Work from complex engineering drawings to complete projects and assigned work.

Assist with on-the-job training of Industrial Technicians.

Utilize Enterprise Asset Management system to account for labor, materials, costs, and scopes of work

Complete reports and forms on Root Cause Analysis, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Methods of Procedure (MOP), and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).

Stay informed of relevant technological advances for industrial equipment and machinery by networking, reading, and attending conferences / seminars.

May be asked to serve on the Safety Committee.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION, LICENSE, CERTIFICATION, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

High School Education or GED. Vocational school or college education desired.

Completion of a four-year apprenticeship or four years' experience working as a millwright, machinist, pipefitter, welder or as an industrial maintenance mechanic on equipment similar to equipment found at a wastewater treatment plant.

Valid Colorado driver's license and a clear or acceptable MVR

An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant job experience may be substituted.

HOURLY PAY RANGE $28.49 - $42.74 / Hourly Pay

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Requires extensive walking, carrying, lifting, kneeling, bending, reaching, and squatting. May be required to lift up to 75 pounds. Major activities are performed on level, slippery, sloping, unstable, and / or uneven terrain in a variety of weather conditions. May be exposed to extreme cold, heat, heights, temperature swings, constant noise, mechanical and electrical hazards, fumes, odors, and chemicals. Work is performed in an office, outside, and in an industrial environment.
