Residential Assistant Manager (Group Home) All Five Boroughs This position oversees the daily operations of a group home, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, supervising direct support staff, and collaborating with managers to deliver individualized care.

Responsibilities

Assist with ensuring ongoing compliance and quality assurance with state and federal regulations applicable to the operation of the facility.

Provide direct supervision and guidance to direct support employees assigned to the residence, confer with Residence Manager on staff evaluations, and participate in overseeing disciplinary actions as needed.

Provide service coverage in accordance with staff scheduling established by Residence Manager, and cover any changes due to staff shortages or emerging resident needs.

Assume responsibility for smooth operations of the residence, including adherence to funders’ and agencies’ policies related to house and vehicle maintenance, fire safety, and resident personnel files.

Collaborate with Residence Manager in planning each resident’s individualized program of services and care, covering daily and longer‑term needs, and ensuring delivery by direct care staff that addresses each resident’s interests, preferences, strengths and capabilities.

When assigned to oversee medical services, collaborate with residence clinical staff to monitor direct care activities related to medical services, including maintenance of medical records, scheduling appointments, proper medication administration, and referrals.

Ensure each resident’s basic needs are met, including adequate supply of food, clothing, personal hygiene items, and any other necessary personal belongings.

Serve as liaison with Treatment Coordinator to review quality of active treatment services and expected residential habilitation outcomes, attending team meetings and evaluating accuracy of activity schedules.

Formulate and recommend new ideas and outcomes directed toward enhancing each resident’s quality of life.

Attend and successfully complete mandated and skills‑development training courses, and provide training to staff as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or HSE, with 12–18 months of related experience required.

Experience supervising staff in a residential setting (preferred but not required).

Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (required).

Knowledgeable in the field of developmental and intellectual disabilities and familiar with OPWDD regulations.

Ability to assist in planning, organizing, developing, and implementing program policies and procedures in a timely and consistent manner.

Ability to deal diplomatically with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.

A valid New York State Tri‑State driver’s license for more than one year in good standing with minimal violations is required for most but not all positions.
