The City of Aiken is accepting applications for a part-time Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Engineering & Utilities Department in the Streets Division.
This position operates and maintain all the small and heavy equipment used for dirt road maintenance.
Operates a variety of light and heavy equipment
Move equipment from job to job
Maintain and complete safety inspections on equipment to ensure proper functioning of the equipment
Maintain all City dirt roads
Maintain all storm drains on all City dirt roads
Maintain all City horse paths
Slope and pull ditches on dirt roads for proper drainage
Performs other related duties as required
High School diploma or equivalent
Analytical ability to plan work schedules, diagnose equipment and determine necessary repairs
Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees, citizens, and businesses while performing repair and maintenance duties
Two years experience in operating light and heavy maintenance and construction equipment or any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Must be able to perform manual labor, operate a variety of small/heavy equipment and hand tools
