The Facility Tech is responsible for working closely with the maintenance & facilities team to foster a positive attitude and support the company operations through effective scheduling and completion of submitted work order requests. They will perform tasks and duties to ensure the Facility and Equipment are kept running and in working order.
Responsibilities
Machine Maintenance:
Conducts fluid inspection of equipment. Replaces as needed.
Replaces perishable items such as batteries.
Changes out shaving hoppers and bins with forklift.
Assists Maintenance Techs, if needed, to repair and work on planned and unplanned problems to limit downtime.
Works with Facilities/Maintenance Supervisor to conduct safety assessments of Facility equipment and machines.
Facility Maintenance:
Knowledge of building maintenance, minor electrical, minor plumbing and general office related maintenance tasks.
Active participant in the company safety program and ensuring compliance to OSHA regulations at all times.
Basic woodworking skills.
Daily emptying of metal shaving bins.
Replacing lightbulbs inside and outside the building.
Minor plumbing repairs.
Operating forklift.
Disposal of absorbents/towels.
Keep up with DI salt usage.
Operate the Samsco Waste Disposal Unit.
Aid outside service companies conducted repairs as needed.
Help to ensure the facility maintains a clean, safe working environment.
Keep up the grounds around the facility.
Required Skills & Experience
High school diploma and technical/mechanical aptitude. Knowledge in plumbing, woodworking, general electrical, and general construction skills preferred. Basic troubleshooting of HVAC, compressor, and small machinery. Forklift and overhead lift experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Must be able to work with people to accomplish assigned tasks.
Must be able to read, understand, learn and follow written and verbal safety, quality and work instructions.
Physical Demands
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance.
The employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required.
Work Environment/Conditions
This position will require working primarily indoors in a smoke‑free manufacturing facility but may also require the employee to be outdoors on occasion.
Busy areas, a lot of foot traffic.
Well‑lit shop environment.
Candidates are required to be authorized to work in the United States. All employees must be able to comply with the company Drug and Alcohol Policy, which includes participation in Company random drug testing. Employment is subject to background checks appropriate to the position.
