Position Summary The Material Handler performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials and supplies. The Material Handler works and cross‑trains in receiving, parts shipping, or material fulfillment departments.

Job Functions

Count, weigh or measure incoming or outgoing items to compare identifying information and variety against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

Examine incoming shipments for damage or shortages and correspond with shipper to rectify.

Complete paperwork or forms required for documentation.

Receive trucks and unload products or packages.

Prepare materials for shipping by weighing, packaging, and stamping.

Prepare necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading.

Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.

Pull parts from or receive parts into the VLM and perform associated inventory transactions.

Stock parts delivered from outside suppliers and perform associated inventory transactions.

Assist with pulling, packing, and shipping spare parts. Complete associated shipping paperwork and perform associated inventory transactions.

Complete HAZMAT certification process prior to performing receiving or shipping functions.

Follow all safety procedures.

Assist with cycle counts and all scheduled fiscal inventories.

Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Regular and reliable attendance.

Essential Skills and Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalent; OR a minimum of two years of experience in a warehouse, storeroom, logistics or distribution environment.

Basic computer proficiency.

Able to accurately use basic math skills for weights and dimensions.

Solid verbal and written communication skills.

Must be detail oriented with a drive for efficiency and accuracy of work.

Ability to multitask and prioritize demands in a fast‑paced environment.

Must be a self‑starter with a sense of urgency.

Ability to stand for long periods of time and maneuver up and down ladders safely.

Valued But Not Required Skills and Experience

Forklift experience or certification.

RF Scanner experience.

ERP system experience.

VLM (Vertical Lifting Machine) and/or Carousel picking experience a plus.

HAZMAT certification.

CDL license.

Reporting to This Position No direct reports.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use eyes for close vision, use hands, fingers, grasp, handle, reach, listen, talk and may need to talk on the telephone while taking notes. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to 35 pounds or ask for assistance. The noise levels in some manufacturing facilities frequently may exceed the normal dBA. The employee is required to wear eye and foot protection in the plant. Normal working schedule: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday with some overtime required at times.
