Responsibilities
Mobile heavy equipment operator, drive and operate forklifts up to 70k. Operate several types of heavy equipment all over the depot, wherever it needed to be relocated to. Work in transportation department. Drive a semi and a Yard Dog throughout the depot delivering parts to different locations. Pick up and relocate all types of trailers to designated areas. Load and unload trucks. Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes. Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles. Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers. Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights and to comply with state regulations. Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products, livestock, or other materials. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required. Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions. Operate MRS wheel tractor, diesel powered, with 20,000 pound drawbar pull; D-7 and D-8 caterpillar, crawler type low speed tractor, diesel powered, with 24,000-32,000 pound drawbar pull; light and medium tanks, including cross-drive; and 5-ton truck-tractor to tow or otherwise move heavy equipment such as artillery, track laying, combined wheel and track laying, and wheeled vehicles. Move equipment for re-warehousing on backlog lots, transfer between storage and rebuild areas and transfer from docks when receiving, including actual towing of vehicles from rail cars. Tow equipment over terrain and sloping runways, hard surfaces, mud and dirt storage lots, gravel roads and equipment weighing up to and including that equivalent to heavy combat vehicles. Assist in making cable or tow bar connections and operate any type of automotive equipment ranging from smallest wheeled vehicles to largest types of tanks, and tractors in moving self-propelled equipment among various workstations and storage areas. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested. Work Environment & Demands
Typical warehouse environment with no unusual hazards, frequent lifting to 20-50 pounds, kneeling, standing, walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two years of experience as an Equipment Operator and/or completion of recognized apprenticeship program. Must have and maintain Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System. Testing Designated Position. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location. Must understand and be able to use Technical Manuals. Must be able to complete paperwork associated with vehicle maintenance and repairs. Ability to manipulate and use hand tools and hydraulic equipment. Ability to work in a team environment. Passing a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check is required. Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check (NAC) within 60 days of hire if required. Must be available for any shift. Willing to work weekends and other hours as needed.
