General Purpose Maintain plant and equipment in good working order. Provide guidance and support to other team members on shift.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Assist management to ensure that all preventative maintenance work orders are completed according to schedule. Assist with everyday maintenance issues and repairs.
Repair and maintenance of all plant equipment, including boilers, chillers, compressors, cooling yard, utility, and production equipment.
Provide guidance and support to other team members.
Assist in development of maintenance department shift schedules and attendance.
Oversee addressing of elevated issues. Ensure daily jobs and work orders assignments reflect appropriate priorities.
Ensure maintenance team has a good understanding of work practices and procedures.
Maintain and order repair and maintenance parts, supplies, tools, and equipment related to assigned areas of responsibility.
Demonstrate ownership and responsibility of assigned area by following through with work orders, repairs, parts request and contractor work.
Develop, implement, and support preventative maintenance programs
Provide daily status information to leadership.
Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive.
Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment.
Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity.
Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
Work schedule includes on call and weekend shifts.

Minimum Requirements Education and Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
5 years of maintenance work experience in industrial setting with extensive knowledge in one trade (preferably HVAC with boilers and chillers)
Certification and/or License
May be required to obtain and maintain other certifications and/or licenses for continued employment
Trade specialty certification or licensure preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
Knowledge of dairy industry, including production processes and products
Knowledge of machine shop equipment
Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Able to perform all required preventative, productive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance procedures
Able to understand the basic types of controls used in the plant and how they affect the process
Able to perform minor electrical work (i.e. change pump motors and diagnose motor control problems)
Able to use standard maintenance tools
Able to perform routine repairs and minor projects from planning to installation
Able to perform routine preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment, identify any abnormal conditions, and maintain appropriate records
Able to perform basic welding for repair and fabrication (mig/tig/stick)
Able to follow process control computer variables, schematics, and diagnose system problems
Able to assist other mechanics on more complicated repairs in a safe and useful manner
Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
Able to multi-task and problem solve
Able to be proactive in seeking solutions
Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail
Able to work under tight deadlines with flexibility
Able to prioritize and plan work
Able to take initiative in performing job and seek increased responsibilities
