Mission of Department It is the mission of the Scott County Hospital Sleep Disorder Center to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care exceeding the patient’s expectations.
Purpose of Position The Sleep Disorder Ancillary Staff are responsible for helping with the operational, clinical, and quality oversight of the Scott County Hospital Sleep Disorders Center. This position assists with ensuring that sleep diagnostic and therapeutic services are delivered in compliance with American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) standards, CMS requirements, hospital policies, and provider orders.
Essential Functions
Program Oversight & AASM Compliance
Assist with ensuring the Sleep Disorders Center maintains compliance with AASM accreditation standards, including policies, procedures, education, and quality assurance.
Assist with maintaining and updating sleep lab policies and procedures in alignment with AASM, CMS, and Scott County Hospital standards.
Assist with preparation and maintaining documentation required for AASM accreditation, audits, and site visits.
Participate in ongoing quality improvement activities as required by AASM accreditation.
Support patient education regarding sleep study procedures, CPAP/BiPAP equipment and safety expectations.
Clinical & Operational Coordination
Help coordinates daily sleep disorder operations including scheduling, staffing, room utilization, and patient flow.
Help ensures sleep studies (PSG, split-night, PAP titration, and HSAT if applicable) are performed according to physician orders and AASM technical standards.
Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement
Help monitor quality metrics including study adequacy, repeat study rates, patient satisfaction, and report turnaround times.
Equipment, Supplies & Safety
Help manages sleep disorder supplies and inventory to ensure readiness and continuity of care.
Assist in preparing, cleaning, and setup for HST and DME (Horizon) PAP set ups.
Ensures compliance with infection control, patient safety, and HIPAA policies.
Documentation, Billing & Compliance
Assist with accurate and complete documentation in the electronic medical record.Assist Director with monitoring accurate charge capture and works with billing staff to resolve documentation issues related to sleep services.
Maintains confidentiality and compliance with hospital and federal regulations.
Patient Experience
Promotes a welcoming, safe, and respectful environment for all sleep patients.
Addresses patient concerns or complaints related to sleep services in collaboration with leadership.
Supports patient education related to sleep studies and PAP therapy initiation when applicable.
Non-Essential Functions
Assists with departmental projects and hospital committees as assigned.
Participates in program development and service line growth initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned.Participates in departmental meetings, education, and training activities.
Qualifications Required
Registered/Certified Respiratory Therapist preferred
Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP equipment and sleep study workflows
Current Kansas licensure
Current BLS certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent customer service, organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
Attention to detail and commitment to quality care
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a clinical environment
Experience with Excel, and other office programs
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
Ability to lift and move sleep lab equipment as needed
Performance Expectations
