Job Summary
This position reflects the mission, vision and values of Westchester Medical Center Health Network and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines. The purpose of this position is to provide collaboration with physicians, nurses and other healthcare workers within our department. The employee is responsible for answering phones, ordering supplies and transcribing orders given by physicians.
Responsibilities
Communicates clearly and effectively with nurses, administration, and physicians
Maintains patient’s files
Prepares patient treatment charts
Updates patient information
Schedules appointments
Answers telephones, orders supplies and enters physician orders
Handles administrative duties and provides back-up support with additional functions as required
Must develop and foster excellent client and staff relations
Performs other functions as required and trained to perform
Experience
Working knowledge of hospital organization and procedures
Excellent listening and communication skills
Strong strategic thinking and decision‑making abilities
Conflict resolution skills and ability to maintain personal composure when priorities quickly change
Able to multitask, and be goal and detail-oriented
Works well under pressure and deadlines
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Must develop and foster excellent client and staff relations
Able to work independently
Demonstrates a positive attitude and overall pleasant demeanor
Full command, verbal and written, of the English language. Multilingual a plus
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office with a strong aptitude for Excel
Understands customer service as it relates to position and delivery of care
Licenses / Certifications
High School or GED; prior experience in healthcare field
