The base pay range is

$16.00/hr – $18.00/hr .

Responsibilities

Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Register sales on assigned cash register, provide customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.

Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, including using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.

Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.

Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Provide customers with courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service.

Recommend items for sale to customers and recommend trade‑up and/or companion items.

Register customer purchases on assigned cash register, collect cash and distribute change as requested; process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed. Take customers to the OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.

Keep counters and shelves clean and well merchandised, take inventory, and maintain records. Check in and price merchandise as required or as directed by the store manager or communicated by the shift leader.

Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medication is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.

Report immediately prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.

Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.

Strictly adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.

Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.

Process (correct) and resubmit manual claims for third‑party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.

Assist and support the Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques, and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors or damaged goods involving prescription drugs.

Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco products).

Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise. Complete resets and revisions as directed.

Assist with separation of food items and product placement as specified by policies/procedures. For consumable items, assist in stock rotation using the first‑in, first‑out method and restock outs.

Have working knowledge of store systems and store equipment.

Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster printing, and creative machine, as well as suggestive sell of promotional photo products.

Assume web pick‑up responsibilities (monitor orders in Picture Care Plus, pick items, deliver orders to customers as they arrive at the store).

Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring clean, neat, orderly store condition and appearance.

Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.

Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Training & Personal Development

Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state required certification/registration.

Attend training and complete required PPLs requested by the Manager or assigned by corporate and acquire continuing education credits. Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.

Basic Qualifications

Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)

Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.

Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.

Prefer good math skills to accurately fill prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.

Prefer good computer skills.

Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.

Prefer PTCB certification.
