GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB: Under general direction, the Plumber organizes, coordinates, executes, maintains, repairs and installs all types of plumbing equipment, domestic water systems, water heaters, washing machines and related devices. Performs preventative maintenance (PM) programs, inspections and repairs. Responds to emergency plumbing calls and maintains and repairs all plumbing services, including valves. Reports to the Public Works Assistant Facility Services Superintendent or designee.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Coordinate, troubleshoot, repair, inspect and maintain plumbing equipment and fixtures including, but not limited to, faucets, lavatories, toilets, flush valves, sinks, water heaters, drinking fountains, domestic water heaters and boilers, garbage disposals, backflow devices.

Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs in City facilities including, but not limited to, domestic water systems and related device and sanitary waste drainage.

Install new plumbing fixtures including, but not limited to, sinks, commodes, urinals, faucets, drinking fountains, garbage disposals, domestic water heaters, and related devices.

Repair or replace water lines, domestic recirculation lines, etc.

Diagnose problems with plumbing and mechanical systems and perform needed repairs.

Identify plumbing and safety problems applicable to the installation and take necessary corrective action using appropriate parts and tools.

Provide labor and material related to plumbing for small remodel projects. Coordinate inspections for contractor performed work in renovation projects.

Recommend and perform repairs needed to potentially eliminate ongoing and future repairs.

Assist outside contractors as needed and assist with review of in-house remodel projects to ensure City standards are met.

Assist other staff with piping and perform general maintenance repairs.

Respond to emergency plumbing calls such as clogged drains, broken water lines, etc. Evaluate repairs needed and take corrective action.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Respond to emergencies, as needed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Considered essential personnel in the event of a natural disaster.

Performs additional related duties as assigned and/or required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Five (5) or more years of directly related plumbing experience.

Knowledge of operation for electric sensors on faucets, flush valves and shower.

Must possess a Broward County Journeyman Plumber License.

Must possess a valid state of Florida driver's license

Emergency Management Responsibilities: During emergency conditions, all City of Miramar employees are automatically considered emergency services workers. City of Miramar employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
