Bering Straits Professional Services, a company within the BSNC family, is currently seeking a qualified

Web Development Assistant

for the CoMSupCen in Lexington, Kentucky. We are looking for a dynamic junior web developer and IT professional to join our team. You will be assisting with day-to-day IT maintenance and operations around the building along with getting hands‑on experience with developing and maintaining web applications and internal tooling. Your primary focus will be on assuring day-to-day IT operations around the building followed by learning, maintaining, and developing internal systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.

Assists in the maintenance of all IT systems ranging from printers to web servers and networking equipment.

Handles IT helpdesk ticket resolution and assists Sysadmin with IT related tasks.

Assists Senior Web Developer with all aspects of website and application design, software upgrades and implementation.

Assists with testing and maintenance of backend and front‑end applications.

Collaborates with internal clients and the rest of the IT department to implement industry‑standard solutions for both hardware and software.

Consistently grows knowledge base of, and familiarity with, current technologies and frameworks and programming trends.

Receives feedback in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner while also communicating with the rest of the IT department any ideas to better improve systems and operations for users.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

Great interpersonal & team skills

Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in IT and / or software development

Basic understanding of hardware maintenance and physical networking

Functional understanding of web design and development principles

Ability to think critically to solve a problem and thinking outside of the box

A love for technology and a desire to grow and improve

Ability to learn quickly and stay up to date with the latest technologies

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Experience with basic IT troubleshooting and development technologies

Good planning, analytical, and critical thinking skills

Ability to work both independently and part of a team

Preferred

CompTIA or related professional technical certifications or equivalent degree(s).

Experience with Angular and Git along with IT helpdesk / ticket resolution experience

DOT COVERED/SAFETY‑SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety‑sensitive” functions.

This position does perform DOT “safety‑sensitive” functions (as defined under 49 CFR Part 40) and is subject to all federal requirements related to Department of Transportation requirements for those performing, or on‑call to perform, “safety‑sensitive” functions. Employees must provide a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC).

WORK ENVIRONMENT The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi‑line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre‑employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
