Diesel Mechanic Ryder System, Inc. is immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Opelika, Alabama.

Key Details

Hourly Pay: $24.45 per hour

Certification Bonus: $100 for each New ASE Certification up to $700

Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter

Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days

Schedule: Monday–Friday Weekends OFF

Hours: First Shift 7:30 am – 4:00 pm

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Vocational or Technical Certification / Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred

Basic tools required

Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.

Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience preferred

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred

Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire

Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background checks

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties

Perform standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and repairs

Perform preventive maintenance

Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers

Identify root causes of failures and perform repairs as required

Replace defective components as instructed

Maintain the facility and equipment

Interact with customers/drivers to determine complaints

Use shop management system and EDI documentation

Comply with federal, provincial, and corporate safety and regulatory guidelines

Perform other support duties as required, such as Service Island support
