Provides secretarial/receptionist services to the Mental Health Clinic as well as providing clerical support for the Mental Health Staff and ensures bills are properly processed for payment.

Responsibilities A day in the life of a at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

Registers all new patients at the center prior to their first appointment. Obtains necessary patient information including: patient consent for treatment, acknowledgement of patient`s rights, and any other material necessary for proper and complete patient registration. Enters all information into the Epic electronic health record.

Obtains financial information from patients during the telephone intake process to determine method of payment and payment availability for services at this center before the patient commits to coming for an appointment. This includes informing the patient of all documents/materials they must bring to their first appointment.

Performs a financial screening and determination prior to each patient`s intake appointment. This includes reviewing all documents for their method of payment to determine completeness. Follows up with patients to complete this process as needed.

Maintains up-to-date information for patients regarding their method of payment. Notifies staff and/or the Director of patient conflicts or payment problems for the purpose of resolving the problems. Updates all patient information as needed and as brought in by patients and scans all needed information into the system as per hospital policy and practice.

Assists with checking patients into the Epic electronic health record and with entering staff patient schedules into Epic.

Receives and maintains cash and check payments from patients. Documents all such payments and prepares the material for deposit at PMC. Delivers this material to the Director for transport to PMC.

Coordinates with PMC Finance and Registration personnel to comply with all regulations and patient needs. Engages in problem solving with PMC Registration and Finance staff when issues arise.

Responds to all telephone calls to the Counseling Center. Routes all calls to appropriate staff, voice mail, and/or records messages from callers. Responds to all persons calling or coming into the center, including notifying staff of patient`s asking for appointments and intake appointments.

Monitors clinic office supplies, as needed, and notifies the Director of Mental Health when new supplies need to be ordered. Assists in organizing and maintaining such supplies.

Maintains a neat and orderly office space with all confidential material out of sight of all patients and members of the public.

Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.

2 years related experience.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

Medical billing, hospital experience preferred.

Bilingual Spanish speaking
