Responsibilities The Collector II shall be responsible for resolving all outstanding insurance account balances over 30 days old and any related documentation in order to receive payment in a timely manner. The Collector will utilize multiple computer systems and electronic payor systems on a daily basis. This individual shall be instrumental in facilitating organizational and departmental process and procedure improvements. Additionally, the Collector is responsible for updating patient account notes to reflect the aggressive collection logic necessary for expediting payments. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1 year of experience working in a healthcare related field, with knowledge of third party payers preferred.
At least 1 year of data entry required.
Proficient in PC, Excel and Word applications.
Healthcare collection experience preferred.
CPAT/CPAR certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to read and write proficiently.
Good math skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Demonstrates positive attitude and acceptance of Baptist Health values.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements Position requires sitting for 70% of the workday and mobility 30% of the workday. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. Requires clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
