About the Role
The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President for Finance and Reporting. This pivotal role is a blend of accounting expertise, finance transformation, and people leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspiring and leading a high-performing finance team, owning the end-to-end GAAP and statutory reporting lifecycle, and driving finance modernization initiatives. Key responsibilities include financial reporting for various product lines, business partnering on strategic initiatives, technical accounting assessments, and ensuring controls and compliance with SOX frameworks.
Applicants for the AVP position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with a CPA strongly preferred, and a Master's degree being a plus. A minimum of 10 years' experience in accounting and financial reporting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, is required. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in life insurance and long-duration accounting, experience with internal controls, SOX, and financial systems implementation, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A background in a Big 4 firm with industry experience is preferred, but exceptional candidates from public accounting are also encouraged to apply. The role demands a technically sharp individual who is self-aware, and eager to coach, learn, and improve, and who can effectively lead through change and partner across functions.
