About the Role
The Company is seeking a Senior Vice President of Federal Government Relations to be a pivotal figure in the development and execution of a comprehensive federal engagement strategy. The successful candidate will be a seasoned executive with over 15 years' experience in federal government relations, public policy, or legislative affairs, and will be responsible for leading efforts to influence key stakeholders on federal legislative, regulatory, and administrative matters. This role demands a deep understanding of federal appropriations, agency operations, and the political dynamics that impact business, particularly in the areas of public assistance programs, federal contracting, and performance-based policy implementation. The SVP will also be involved in crisis and change management, advising on political risks, and ensuring the company's political activities remain non-partisan while effectively influencing policy.
Key responsibilities for the SVP include developing and executing a federal government relations strategy, building and maintaining relationships with federal stakeholders, and leading internal coordination on federal rule changes. The role requires exceptional communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills, as well as the ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at the executive level. A strong background in navigating complex federal and political environments, including appropriations, OMB processes, and agency rulemaking, is essential. The ideal candidate will have experience working with or within federal agencies, Congress, or large government contractors, and a preference will be given to those with a background in performance-based contracting or public assistance program implementation, as well as TS/SCI clearance or eligibility.
