About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to play a pivotal role in the establishment and growth of a new nonprofit association dedicated to environmental conservation and community engagement. The CDO will be instrumental in developing a fundraising department and strategic direction to support the organization's start-up phase, with a focus on driving the planning, development, and management of all advancement programs. This includes an initial operating goal, a significant campaign for the Master Plan's Phase 1, and strategic initiatives to advance the organization's mission. The successful candidate will be a visionary and strategic leader, responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive, donor-centric fundraising program, and will work closely with the CEO and a committed Board of Directors to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the organization.

Applicants for the CDO position at the company should be accomplished fundraising professionals with a proven track record in increasing and sustaining philanthropy. The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset, be a self-starter, and have experience in all aspects of fundraising, including major gifts and capital campaigns. A passion for environmental stewardship and a genuine interest in the patron experience of cultural institutions are essential. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree or CFRE preferred, and 5-8 years of progressive fundraising experience. Bilingual fluency, particularly in Spanish, and the ability to engage with the culture and communities of San Antonio and South Texas are highly desirable. The CDO will be expected to be a connector and collaborator, with a strong emphasis on building and maintaining donor relationships and internal alliances.
