A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree is required, along with board certification in internal medicine. The role demands a visionary leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to mentor and inspire faculty and trainees, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Experience in a leadership role, such as a division chief or program director, is highly desirable.
