About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to play a pivotal role in the organization's strategic growth and sustainability. The CDO will be responsible for co-designing and leading a long-term, diversified fundraising strategy, with a focus on growing operating revenue. This includes partnering with the CEO to engage major donors, managing a portfolio of philanthropic partners, and expanding the organization's network of supporters. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in progressive fundraising, including the ability to close seven-figure gifts, and will be a strategic thinker capable of balancing vision with execution. They should be a collaborative leader, experienced in building and leading high-performing development teams, and have a deep commitment to the mission of the organization.

Key responsibilities for the CDO at the company include strategic fundraising leadership, major donor and institutional engagement, and partnership with the executive team to align fundraising plans with financial forecasts and organizational goals. The role also involves overseeing donor communications, impact storytelling, and collaborating with the marketing and communications team to showcase the organization's impact. The successful candidate will be a creative and entrepreneurial individual with a passion for the mission, a commitment to authentic and diverse philanthropic relationships, and the ability to inspire confidence and optimism. Experience in a bipartisan or multi-stakeholder funding environment is a plus, and the CDO will be expected to have a strong sense of integrity, curiosity, and emotional intelligence in their approach to donor relationships.
