About the Role
The Company is seeking a General Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (GS/CEO) to lead its non-profit agency, which has been a servant ministry of the Church since the 1940s. The GS/CEO will be a faithful, authentic, and forward-thinking leader, responsible for the organization's financial plan, budgets, and the collection and distribution of revenues. This role is pivotal in promoting fiscal integrity, strategic alliance building, and steadfast leadership, particularly in the context of the highly decentralized structure of the Church. The successful candidate will work closely with the Board of Directors, serve as Treasurer, and engage with a wide range of connectional partners, including the Council of Bishops and other UMC agencies.
The ideal candidate for the GS/CEO position at the company will have an advanced degree and substantial experience in executive-level financial or administrative leadership, with a preference for those who have served as a chief executive. Strong leadership, a deep commitment to the mission of the organization, and a vision for it as a trusted partner are essential. The role requires proven sound judgment, fiscal acumen, strategic skills, collaborative and relational abilities, excellent communication, and political astuteness within a denominational setting. The GS/CEO will also be instrumental in helping the organization navigate necessary changes to ensure a sustainable future, particularly in the face of challenges for the Church and other mainline Protestant denominations.
