Role Overview

Western Weather Group is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our accounting team. The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of vendor and customer transactions and for maintaining the general ledger, requiring a strong understanding of US GAAP.

Location: On-site in Chico, CA. Hours: 20-30 per week.

Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable

  • Accurate and timely processing of customer invoices in our ERP system.
  • Accurate and timely entry of customer payments into the ERP system.
  • Follow up with customers on past due invoices/balances.
  • Revise and adjust invoices when necessary.
  • Ensure the delivery of invoices to customers via email and/or customer Total Spend Management systems.
  • Process and prepare accounts receivable (AR) and customer reports.

Accounts Payable
  • Accurate and timely processing, coding, and entering of vendor bills into our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
  • Record approved credit card purchases in our ERP system.
  • Process and prepare accounts payable (AP) and vendor reports.
  • Process weekly and ad-hoc AP payments.

Records Management
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor records in our ERP system.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records in our ERP system.
  • Complete credit applications for new vendors.
  • Collaborate with the Sales department to gather the needed information from new customers so that they may be added appropriately to our ERP system.
  • Maintain company files in an organized and accessible fashion in our ERP system and the companys SharePoint site.

Miscellaneous
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of AR, AP, bank, and credit card accounts.
  • Manage and respond to vendor inquiries.
  • Manage and respond to customer inquiries.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or related field, or 3-4 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with cross-functional teams, customers, staff, and management.
  • Collaborative and inclusive with internal and external partners, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in private sector accounting.
  • Experience with Microsoft Business Central.
