Position Overview
KGLT is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Production Director to manage our recording and production facilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality audio production for broadcast on our radio station, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting audio equipment, and collaborating with on-air talent and production staff to create exceptional audio content.
Responsibilities
- Work within a team environment to achieve department and organizational goals.
- Maintain and operate KGLT’s production room including scheduling of studio use.
- Maintain production traffic logs for PSAs, KGLT station promos, and national and locally produced programs.
- Operate audio mixing consoles, microphones, recording equipment, and other audio devices.
- Edit, mix, and master audio recordings to meet broadcast standards and enhance overall sound quality.
- Monitor recording audio levels to ensure clear, balanced, and distortion-free sound.
- Work closely with producers, hosts, and other team members to understand audio needs and provide technical expertise.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure all audio elements are properly integrated into broadcasts and recordings.
- Provide training and guidance to on-air talent and production staff on the use of audio equipment and best practices.
- Collaborate with on-air talent and production staff in producing audio content.
- Maintain and manage media assets required for KGLT programming.
- Record, edit, produce, schedule KGLT programs.
- Download and manage national programs received from NPR and Public Radio Exchange.
- Independently manage media assets on air studio computer.
- Create and edit copy for various public service announcements.
- Maintain correspondence with various organizations that submit public service announcements to KGLT.
- Create and develop various station spots including recorded underwriting messages.
- Create, implement, and manage sponsor on-air messages and program log schedules.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Film, Recording Technology, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic computer applications and fundamentals and ability to use Windows and Apple computers.
- Proven experience using audio equipment used in recording (mixers, microphones, digital audio interfaces, etc.).
- Proven proficiency using a digital audio workstation such as Adobe Audition.
- Experience writing and editing copy or scripts for production in broadcasting or digital media.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Experience in commercial or non-commercial broadcasting.
- Experience recording voice overs in a studio environment.
- Experience managing a production facility or studio.
- Basic knowledge of public media and its programming goals.

- Maintain and elevate positive relationships with the membership and other constituents and seek new mutual beneficial relationships.
Physical Demands
This position requires an individual to sit at a computer work station and edit and produce audio programs on a daily basis for multiple hours.
