Our client, a leading healthcare provider dedicated to delivering compassionate inpatient care, is hiring a Nocturnist, Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician, Palliative Care Hospitalist . As a vital member of the nighttime hospital medicine team, the Nocturnist will oversee adult inpatient care during overnight shifts, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and safe patient management. Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care for adult patients during overnight shifts, including new admissions, ongoing management, and cross-cover.
  • Evaluate and triage emergency department admissions, determine appropriate dispositions, and facilitate seamless handoffs to day teams.
  • Manage acute changes in patient conditions, perform procedures within scope, and escalate to specialists when necessary.
  • Collaborate with nursing, case management, social work, and consulting services to support safe patient care.
  • Complete all documentation, orders, and discharge summaries in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in overnight call coverage, quality improvement projects, and peer review processes.
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families about overnight care plans and goals of care.
  • Respond promptly to rapid response team calls and assist during code situations.
Requirements:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Palliative Care or equivalent; hospitalist or nocturnist experience preferred.
  • Valid state medical license or the ability to obtain one, along with current DEA registration.
  • Current ACLS certification; BLS required.
  • Proven experience managing inpatient issues, hospital admissions, and multidisciplinary communication.
  • Strong clinical judgment, decision-making, documentation, and time management skills suitable for overnight work.
