Surgery - General Nurse Practitioner

Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) Cardiothoracic Surgery (PERM)
Location: Dothan, Alabama
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join a well-established hospital-employed surgical team in Dothan, Alabama. The chosen candidate will play a vital role in providing comprehensive perioperative and postoperative care within a high-volume cardiovascular surgery program. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers an exceptional opportunity for professional growth in a supportive community setting.
Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in complex cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including vein harvesting and surgical first assisting.
• Perform vein harvesting independently with demonstrated experience; RNFA certification required for NPs.
• Participate actively in preoperative assessments, perioperative management, and postoperative patient care.
• Conduct hospital rounds and coordinate interdisciplinary care with cardiology, interventional radiology, and ICU teams.
• Manage patient follow-ups in clinic, monitor recovery, and address postoperative concerns.
• Support use of advanced surgical systems including the da Vinci robotic surgical platform and Maquet EVH system.
• Provide coverage on a shared call basis (approximately 1 in 3) to ensure continuous patient care.

Qualifications:

• Master s or Doctoral Degree as an NP or PA with certification in cardiothoracic surgery facilitation.
• Demonstrated vein harvesting experience and surgical first assisting skills.
• RNFA certification (required for NP candidates).
• Current state licensure and certifications pertinent to the NP or PA role.
• Prior experience working in a high-volume cardiovascular surgery setting preferred.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
