This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Adjunct Faculty - Phlebotomy who will be all-in on our mission and who is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in assigned subject areas, which may include Phlebotomy and Medical Terminology. Instruction may occur in classroom, laboratory, clinical, online, or technology-supported settings. This position emphasizes student engagement, skill development, certification preparation, and adherence to program and accreditation standards. Adjunct faculty are expected to maintain current subject matter expertise, prepare instructional materials, evaluate student performance, and support student success in both academic and clinical environments.

This position is filled on an as needed basis, contingent upon institutional needs.
Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Required: Associate Degree in a healthcare field.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare-related teaching discipline.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Six (6) months of documented experience, licensure, certification, or training related to the area of instruction.

Preferred: Previous postsecondary teaching experience. Experience supervising or training adults in clinical and/or educational settings.
Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned course(s) using engaging, learner-centered instructional methods.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver organized instruction in accordance with approved course outlines and syllabi.
  • Create lesson plans and learning activities that promote student involvement and application of course content.
  • Prepare students for successful completion of applicable certification or credentialing examinations.
  • Monitor, assist, and evaluate students in clinical settings, as applicable.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback on academic progress.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
  • Meet with and advise students through appropriate methods, including in-person, electronic, or virtual communication.
  • Develop and update curriculum, instructional materials, and supplemental learning resources.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, orientations, and clinical briefings.
  • Complete administrative documentation and reporting in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate in course and curriculum review and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.

Salary: Amarillo College Pay Grades, please review the TEACHING OVERLOAD COMPENSATION and ADJUNCT FACULTY COMPENSATION chart to view the salary pay scale. This is based on your highest level of education.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver supplies up to twenty-five (25) pounds as needed.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary).

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
