Position Overview
The University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics seeks a qualified Interim Strength and Conditioning Coach to provide temporary, part-time support during the transition and hiring process for the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. UMSL, a proud member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and NCAA Division II, sponsors 15 varsity sports and is committed to the health, safety, and performance of its student-athletes. This position will assist in the continued delivery of strength and conditioning services, ensuring consistency, safety, and support for student-athletes while the department completes a national search for a permanent Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the design, implementation, and supervision of sport-specific strength and conditioning programs appropriate to each varsity sport's physiological demands and competitive schedule.
- Provide direct instruction and supervision of student-athletes during strength and conditioning activities.
- Support daily operations of the strength and conditioning facilities, including scheduling, supervision, and equipment oversight.
- Ensure compliance with NCAA, GLVC, University, and departmental rules, policies, and best practices.
- Promote the academic success, health, and welfare of student-athletes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the goals of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics during the transition.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. The University will not sponsor applicants for this position for employment visas.
Shift30 hrs.
Minimum QualificationsA Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred QualificationsCurrent nationally recognized strength and conditioning certification required (e.g., CSCS, SCCC). CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required or obtained within a designated timeframe.
Preferred licensures would include: SCCC, MSCC, or CSCS.
Experience leading or coordinating a collegiate strength and conditioning program
Familiarity with Division II athletics and the GLVC competitive environment
Salary Range: $25-30 per hour
Grade: GGS-009
