Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide essential health services within a K-12 school setting in Kirtland, NM. The RN will serve as the Lead Nurse overseeing Health Aides and supporting the wellbeing of students and staff across 23 schools. This contract role runs through the school year, with onsite responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: Act as Lead Nurse and supervise Health Aides on campus. Provide first aid and basic healthcare to students and staff. Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed. Support students with chronic health conditions including diabetes, asthma, and epilepsy. Document health office visits, medication logs, and immunization records accurately. Assist with student health screenings and support Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 plans. Respond calmly and efficiently to health emergencies. Collaborate effectively with school staff, parents, and healthcare professionals. Qualifications: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license. CPR/AED certification required. Experience working with children or in school health settings preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to travel between multiple schools during the workday. Successful background check and fingerprint clearance. Bilingual English and Navajo (Din) skills strongly preferred. Familiarity with school health regulations, FERPA, and IEP processes is a plus.
