Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) instruction is needed for a K-12 position in Ooltewah, TN, serving students across multiple schools within the Chattanooga area. This contract role is set to begin on January 5, 2026, and conclude on May 21, 2026, requiring 37.5 hours per week. Candidates must hold an active Tennessee Department of Education teaching certification specific to the DHH discipline. Responsibilities include: Providing specialized instruction tailored to the individual needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Following the students schedules closely to support their learning across different school environments. Collaborating with educational and support staff to implement effective communication strategies and promote an inclusive learning atmosphere. Maintaining accurate records of student progress and adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles. Qualifications: Active Tennessee DOE certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education. Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Strong communication skills and the ability to develop individualized educational plans. Commitment to fostering student growth and inclusion in academic settings. This position requires being onsite with no remote or hybrid work options available.
