Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to provide specialized instruction within a K-12 public school setting. This contract position, located in Gretna, Louisiana, offers a full-time schedule aligned with the school calendar, supporting students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The role requires expertise in educating students with hearing impairments, fostering their academic and social development in inclusive environments. Key Responsibilities: Deliver tailored instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across K-12 grade levels. Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Utilize a variety of communication methods and assistive technologies to enhance learning outcomes. Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to meet individual needs. Maintain accurate records, participate in team meetings, and contribute to ongoing professional development. Qualifications: Active Louisiana Department of Education certification for teaching Deaf / Hard of Hearing students. Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a K-12 educational setting. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to create engaging, accessible lesson plans tailored to diverse learning styles. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Position Details: Location: Gretna, Louisiana Schedule: Full-Time, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7 hours daily with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Contract duration: Current school year through May 22, 2026. Caseload and specific school assignments to be determined.
