Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Certified Sign Language Interpreter is needed to provide interpreting services for K-12 students in Fresno, CA. This is a per diem contract position starting ASAP through June 11, 2026, supporting multiple schools within the district. The role requires strong proficiency in American Sign Language to facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and educators. Key Responsibilities: Deliver accurate and clear sign language interpretation for students across K-12 classrooms. Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure full accessibility of educational content. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards. Adapt interpretation techniques to suit a diverse range of educational settings and student needs. Qualifications: National Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter. Must meet at least one of the following criteria:
EIPA score of 4.0 or higher. Registered Interpreter of the Deaf (RID) membership. Educational Sign Skills Evaluation-Interpreter and Receptive (ESSE-I/R). NAD/ACCI assessment.
Previous experience in educational interpreting is preferred but not required. Ability to work on-site in Fresno, CA. Availability to accept per diem assignments as needed.
