Mass Rising
About Mass Rising
Mass Rising is a new professional soccer team launching in Massachusetts in 2028 and competing in
USL League One .
We’re building a modern club from the ground up — one that blends elite competition, deep community roots, and a long-term vision for growth in American soccer.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the identity of a professional sports franchise before its first match is ever played.
The Role We’re looking for a
Head of Marketing
to own and build the Mass Rising brand from zero to kickoff — and beyond.
You’ll be responsible for fan acquisition, brand storytelling, revenue‑driving campaigns, and turning Mass Rising into a must‑follow, must‑attend club in New England. This role reports directly to the Founder / Ownership Group and will work closely with leadership across partnerships, ticketing, and community engagement.
This is a builder role — hands‑on, creative, and strategic.
What You’ll Own Brand & Storytelling
Define and launch the Mass Rising brand voice, positioning, and narrative
Lead all creative direction across digital, in‑stadium, merchandise, and media
Own club announcements, launch moments, and major brand campaigns
Fan Growth & Engagement
Build the fanbase from day one (pre‑season, pre‑stadium, pre‑roster)
Own social media strategy (organic + paid) across platforms
Develop content strategy (video, short‑form, long‑form, community stories)
Revenue‑Driving Marketing
Drive demand for season tickets, single‑match tickets, and memberships
Support sponsorship and partnership activation with compelling marketing assets
Collaborate on merchandise launches and drops
Community & Culture
Position Mass Rising as Massachusetts’ club
Activate local soccer communities, youth clubs, supporters groups, and local businesses
Help launch and support official supporters groups
Team & Systems (Over Time)
Build and manage a small internal team or agency partners
Establish marketing analytics, dashboards, and reporting
Scale systems as the club grows toward and beyond 2028
Who We’re Looking For Must‑Haves
7–12+ years in marketing, brand, or growth roles
Experience building a brand or audience from the ground up
Strong digital and social media instincts (especially video)
Data‑driven but creatively led
Comfortable operating in ambiguity and early‑stage environments
Nice‑to‑Haves
Sports, entertainment, or live‑event experience
Soccer knowledge or passion (professional or grassroots)
Experience with ticketing, memberships, or subscriptions
Prior experience working directly with founders or ownership
What Makes This Role Special
You’re shaping a professional sports brand before it exists
Direct access to ownership and real influence over strategy
Opportunity to build a legacy club, not just run campaigns
High visibility role with long‑term growth potential as the club scales
Compensation
Competitive salary (commensurate with experience)
Equity or long‑term incentive opportunity (for the right candidate)
Opportunity to grow into a CMO‑level role as the club expands
How to Apply Send a brief intro, resume, and examples of brands or communities you’ve helped build. We care more about what you’ve built than where you worked.
