Job Description Environmental Services Floor Technician FLSA: Part-time/Non-Exempt

About the role We are looking for an energetic employee that has experience in cleaning, maintaining, and restoring floor surfaces.

Supervision Received:

Reports to Environmental Services Supervisor, Team lead, and Facilities Services Manager

Supervision Exercised:

None

Typical Physical Demands:

Requires stamina and endurance, prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items up to and over 50 pounds. Use of heavy floor equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Typical Working Conditions: This job operates in a professional medical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

Responsibilities Maintenance of all floor areas, top scrubbing, refinishing floor areas in sustaining high standards of cleanliness, and sanitation Spot removal from the carpets, furniture, uses bonnet and/or extraction methods when carpet cleaning, assist with trash pickup Operates auto scrubbers, burnishers, scrubbers, wet- pickup vacuum. Cleaning offices, hallways, common areas and other areas, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, when facility needs require. Moving furniture before and after floor maintenance projects Exact measurement of floor chemicals. The use and operation of chemical dispensing units Labeling chemical correctly Cleaning, maintaining, and storing equipment and PPE proficiently Keeping inventory of floor areas, and scheduling cleaning and maintenance duties Reporting maintenance issues to supervisor Follows practice’s policies and procedures

Location & commitments Part-time role based at all Physicians East locations, Monday-Friday, 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., some weekend work required based on facility needs. Overtime may be required to ensure facility needs. Tasks are completed, and calls are returned in a timely manner.

Candidate requirements High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Experience in floor care required. Knowledge of how to strip, refinish and burnish floors with minimal to no assistance. Previous

housekeeping/cleaning

experience in a healthcare setting and knowledge of applicable OSHA practices and Infection Control procedures for healthcare is strongly preferred. Individual must be able to work independently and schedule cleaning activities to meet the needs of patients, and staff/physicians. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must display a high level of confidentiality, integrity, and initiative. Must be able to work well under stress, tight deadlines, and fast-paced environment. Must possess exceptional organizational and critical thinking skills. Must be able to read and understand Standard English and be able to work with standard cleaning chemicals. Must possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills and can create a favorable impression for the organization to all staff, physicians, patients, and the public.
