Gill-Montague Regional School District Committee is seeking a motivated educational leader with the ability to provide strong academic leadership, a collaborative management style and excellent communication skills to become Superintendent of its 850 pupil school district.
The Gill-Montague Regional School District, a preK-12 district nestled along the Connecticut River in the Upper Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts, serves the children in the town of Gill and the five villages that comprise the town of Montague. Secondary students from the town of Erving attend the district’s middle and high schools.
The district benefits from the educational influences of the Five College Consortium (Amherst, Hampshire, Mt. Holyoke and Smith Colleges, and the University of Massachusetts). With an aggregate population of 10,300, the district is within 20 miles of Amherst, 30 miles from Springfield and 87 miles from Boston. The district is near Interstate 91 and Route 2 at the gateway to the Mohawk Trail.
The towns of Gill and Montague are a diverse area, rich in history and culture that includes more than 10,000 years of early Native American habitation, as well as Colonial and Industrial-era history. The landscape is a rare combination of rolling hills, fertile farmlands, and residential villages. The towns are ideally situated among New England’s finest skiing, canoeing, hiking, and biking opportunities.
Both Gill and Montague are each governed by elected select boards.
