SUMMARY
The Director of Quality is responsible for leading and overseeing all quality, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives across the organization. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, promotes a culture of continuous improvement, and partners with clinical and administrative leaders to enhance patient outcomes and organizational excellence. The Director of Quality serves as a key resource for quality reporting, accreditation readiness, and system-wide performance improvement strategies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides leadership and direct supervision of the Quality Department, including staff development, performance management, and alignment of departmental goals with organizational priorities.
Oversees departmental operations through delegated leadership, ensuring effective workflows and seamless support of patient care delivery and quality initiatives.
Develops, implements, and monitors policies, procedures, and workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
Oversees the design, implementation, and evaluation of the organization’s quality and performance improvement programs.
Ensures compliance with applicable healthcare laws, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and reporting obligations (CMS, state, and other regulatory agencies).
Directs data collection, analysis, and reporting for quality indicators, patient safety metrics, and performance improvement initiatives.
Monitors patient flow and quality-related processes to identify opportunities to reduce delays and improve care delivery without compromising safety or outcomes.
Maintains schedules and staffing plans for the Quality Department, ensuring adequate coverage to meet organizational needs.
Conducts performance evaluations and provides ongoing coaching and feedback to enhance staff productivity, engagement, and morale.
Ensures ongoing training and professional development of quality staff to maintain compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Leads accreditation readiness and continuous survey preparedness activities in collaboration with department leaders.
Oversees investigation and follow-up of patient safety events, ensuring timely root cause analyses and implementation of corrective actions.
Serves as a liaison with executive leadership, medical staff, and department leaders regarding quality, safety, and performance improvement priorities.
Ensures accurate, secure management of quality-related and patient information in compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
Perform other related tasks as needed.

Comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and compliance requirements.
Skilled in applying quality management principles, patient safety practices, and performance improvement methodologies.
Ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and translate findings into measurable improvement strategies.
Proven ability to inspire, mentor, and develop staff while building high-performing teams.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to partner effectively across clinical, administrative, and executive teams.
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; capable of conveying complex issues to diverse audiences including senior leadership and governing boards.
Adept at leading organizational change, managing multiple priorities, and driving system-wide quality initiatives.
Proficiency with quality data systems, EHRs, reporting tools, and data visualization platforms.
Aligns quality initiatives with organizational mission, vision, and long-term goals.

Ability to remain flexible and resilient in a fast-paced, evolving healthcare environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field required
Five (5) years of experience in healthcare quality, patient safety, or performance improvement
Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
