What to Expect As a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer on Semi's Battery Module & Pack, Production Engineering team, you will sustain, optimize, and improve advanced automated manufacturing equipment. This role involves reducing downtime, maximizing efficiency, and enhancing safety and process standards. You'll become a subject matter expert on critical equipment, contributing to Tesla's mission of building a sustainable future. What You'll Do • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs) that require international travel to validate and launch new production tooling • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment to support continuous production and minimize downtime • Design and validate jigs, fixtures, tooling, and maintenance schedules to ensure safety and reliability • Uses first principals' approach and lead upgrades and modifications to improve equipment performance and process capability • Develop expertise on assigned equipment, including automation systems, to support training and troubleshooting • Run ROI analysis and present engineering justification to Capex What You'll Bring • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience • Strong 2D and 3D CAD design skillset • Hands-on knowledge of robotics (e.g., Fanuc), vision systems (e.g., Keyence, Cognex), dispense systems, and conveyance systems • Familiarity with AGVs, torque tools, dispense, fluid fill systems, and EOL testing is a plus • Strong skills in designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling with a focus on safety, DFM, and GD&T • Demonstrated experience with 3-phaseVAC, single-phaseVAC, and 24 VDC systems • Proven problem-solving ability using structured methods like DMAIC, 8D, or 5 Whys, and excellent communication and teamwork skills Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: • Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction • Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits • Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution • Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA • Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) • 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits • Company paid Basic Life, AD&D • Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) • Employee Assistance Program • Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays • Back-up childcare and parenting support resources • Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance • Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs • Tesla Babies program • Commuter benefits • Employee discounts and perks program
