Part‑Time Clinical Informatics Specialist – Baylor Scott & White Health
Job Summary
Supports the efficient use of clinical information systems to improve patient care, safety, user satisfaction, clinical productivity, and quality outcomes.
Essential Functions
Utilize knowledge of BSWH policies, procedures, and processes to provide support, guidance, or feedback for process improvements, user acceptance testing, education, and implementation/upgrade support.
Understand one or more service line workflows and the impact of technology.
Participate in user acceptance testing.
Demonstrate understanding of health care regulations and their impact on workflows.
Assist with investigation and resolution of problems spanning multiple service lines or business units.
Follow up with customers during and after service delivery to ensure needs are met.
Organize project tasks against milestones and deliverables with minimal supervision; manage time to meet all deadlines and appropriately escalates issues.
Lead low‑complexity enhancements and specific project activities.
Collaborate with EPIC training team and CIL/CIM to develop leader/clinical communication; assist with discovery and design sessions.
Develop basic presentation and facilitation skills, maintain a positive attitude in the face of ambiguity and change.
Serve as a resource to end users for information systems and technology; complete rounding in assigned inpatient/outpatient areas.
Provide ongoing support for upgrades, new releases, and enhanced functionality; communicate changes, downtime procedures, and workflow process updates to clinicians/providers.
Participate in CI council; assume additional responsibilities to facilitate team goals.
Set clear self‑development expectations; demonstrate initiative and collaborate with others while assisting in the delivery of their work.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare‑related field (preferred) or four years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
Minimum two years of experience in a clinical environment; two or more years in an informatics role preferred.
Licensed clinician such as nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, pharmacy technician, dietitian, or respiratory therapist (preferred).
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Self‑directed with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and project‑management capabilities.
Sound understanding of clinical practice and compliance with current standards and regulatory bodies.
Ability to manage multiple projects and utilize resources with fiscal responsibility.
