We are seeking an experienced
Coding Trainer
with a
strong optometry background
to support coding accuracy, documentation quality, and regulatory compliance through education, auditing, and coaching. This role partners closely with optometrists, clinical staff, and revenue cycle teams to deliver impactful training programs and serve as a subject matter expert on optometry coding and documentation standards.

Base Pay Range $70,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver optometry-focused coding education programs, webinars, and training materials
Educate optometrists and staff on documentation standards to ensure accurate, compliant coding
Conduct coding quality audits, analyze trends, and identify targeted education opportunities
Serve as a subject matter expert for optometry coding and documentation questions
Stay current on state, federal, and payer coding regulations impacting optometry services
Develop curricula, training guides, and educational materials for providers and RCM teams
Support payer and external audits, including documentation review and audit tracking
Perform post‑training reviews to assess effectiveness and reinforce learning
Qualifications & Skills
Required: Optometry coding and documentation experience
Strong knowledge of
Medicare and Medicaid billing and reimbursement principles
Experience training providers and conducting coding audits
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Strong problem‑solving, communication, and presentation skills
Collaborative, patient‑centered mindset
Direct‑hire role with a competitive salary range
Some travel required throughout Virginia (all travel expenses covered)
