Systems Engineer – Supporting PM C2 Transport Location: Augusta, GA

Security Clearance: Secret

Salary: 100K-150K Annual; Commensurate with Education/Experience

Position Purpose: The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of the enterprise-wide server and application infrastructure. This position ensures the security, reliability, and high performance of mission‑critical systems and services. Working under the general direction of the Systems Engineering Team Lead, the role owns all technical aspects of assigned projects from inception to completion, including system deployment, security hardening, and providing advanced technical support.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

System Architecture & Implementation: Designs, plans, and implements enterprise systems, including physical and virtual servers, storage solutions, and supporting applications. Owns the technical execution of service‑request projects, including building, configuring, and testing new server infrastructure across all sites.

Lifecycle & Patch Management: Manages the full lifecycle of enterprise systems. Leads the testing, approval, and deployment of new operating system patches, firmware, and application updates to ensure security and stability.

Compliance & Hardening: Responsible for the security posture of all assigned systems. Applies and validates current Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) for operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, RHEL) and enterprise applications.

Configuration Management: Develops and maintains up-to-date, secure baseline configurations and "gold images" for server operating systems and virtualized environments to ensure consistency and support rapid deployment.

Advanced Technical Support: Provides post‑deployment Tier‑3 support for complex system‑level issues, including performance analysis, root cause analysis of failures, and advanced troubleshooting of client/server environments.

Strategic Planning & Documentation: Conducts risk analyses for proposed system changes and provides technical leadership on enterprise solutions and architecture. Collaborates with internal teams and external partners for on‑time project delivery and participates in high‑level enterprise architecture planning, evaluation, and integration documentation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Deep expertise in enterprise server operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux).

Strong, hands‑on experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper‑V) and client/server environments.

Proven ability to apply security frameworks and hardening guides (e.g., DoD STIGs) to server operating systems and applications.

Strong understanding of enterprise storage concepts (SAN/NAS) and consistent network‑wide file system design.

Demonstrated ability to apply advanced technical principles to solve complex problems related to system performance, availability, and security.
