Job Description Operations is a dynamic, multi‑faceted division that partners with all areas of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. Alongside this vital service delivery role, Operations provides essential risk management and control, preserving and enhancing the firm’s assets and its reputation. Commodities Operations is responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate transaction processing across a broad range of products. The Gas & Power Logistics team manages the physical aspects of the US Power, Renewables and Carbon business, supporting physical scheduling, asset and inventory management, and market access projects.
The team works closely with internal and external stakeholders – traders, sales teams, legal, compliance, technology, tax, credit, system operators, trading counterparts and industry associations – to submit nomination and notification data, ensure data accuracy, support commercial opportunities, and maintain strong risk management controls.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements in the US Power business.
Create and maintain vendor oversight procedures and manage relationships with outsourced vendors.
Negotiate and review contracts and provide GS liaison with vendors for operational support of new business.
Nominate power, renewables and carbon positions to relevant market/system operators.
Ensure counterparty and operator submitted data reflects our trading positions.
Provide traders and sales teams with timely and accurate market data.
Participate in ongoing development of procedures and processes to support the business.
Lead project management initiatives to facilitate trading in new markets and products, including external interfaces and internal IT system enhancements.
Interface with legal, compliance, credit, IT, tax and relevant external bodies.
Basic Qualifications
BS/BA Degree.
At least 2 years of professional experience.
Physical Electricity, Renewables and Carbon scheduling or equivalent experience in the North American markets.
Preferred Qualifications
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to learn quickly in a fast‑moving environment.
Strong technical and analytical skills.
Team‑oriented approach with openness and good communication skills within the team and the ability to work across functions inside and outside Operations.
Innovation – able to suggest and implement ideas to complement and develop new processes as they evolve with the business.
Self‑motivated to manage projects and seek opportunities to enhance business benefit.
Focus on control issues, processes and procedures.
Salary Range The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States‑based position is $70,000–$95,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year‑end.
