Northeastern State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Director of Bands.
Responsibilities:
Direct and provide visionary leadership for the Northeastern State University band program, which includes directing the NSU Wind Ensemble and Riverhawk Marching Band;
Teach instrumental conducting and instrumental pedagogy on biennial rotation, and additional courses as needed by the Department of Music;
Supervision of the band program budget, including scholarships;
Write or contract marching drill;
Oversight of student-run Pep Band;
University Service during public-facing university events, such as graduation and other special events;
Contributing in the promotion of the College of Liberal Arts, School of Visual and Performing Arts, and the Department of Music;
Energetically participating in the recruitment and retention of prospective and current students.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Doctorate in music preferred, especially with a focus in wind conducting or related field.
ABD with significant progress towards document completion considered.
Experience working with undergraduate students and College/University marching bands is essential.
Priority consideration will be given to complete applications received by February 20, 2026.
