Job Description
The Quality Systems Specialist provides functional leadership to develop, implement, maintain and improve the Mars Quality Management System (QMS) for the site and across the network to ensure that end products are safe for human consumption and meet customer, consumer and regulatory requirements to achieve business objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Food Safety, Engineering or related scientific or technical discipline
1-2 years of research & development experience in a responsible position related to Food Safety, Quality, Laboratory, or Food Safety Management Systems
Understanding of key scientific principles associated with food & ingredients
Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams
Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong presentation Skills
Ability to travel 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
2 years of food plant experience in a responsible position related to food safety or quality and food safety management systems
Knowledge / Experience
Knowledge of food safety risk identification and management, HACCP and prerequisite controls
Application of quality tools, food science and statistics
Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams
Knowledge of GMP, food allergens, pest control, sanitation, and food safety regulations
Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities
Experienced auditor in GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, BRC, FSSC22000 or ISO9000 preferable
Key Responsibilities
Effectively maintain and manage the site internal audit program
Capable to deliver effective and efficient training
Able to understand and translate technical policies and procedures to a wide range of associates
Drives continuous improvement of the Mars Quality Management System through analysis of data and evaluation of trends through use of statistical analysis
Leads, in combination with their line manager, product related incident management process and provides recommendation on product disposition
Collaborates with Q&FS Site team and supply partners to conduct the Q&FS management review at planned intervals to ensure suitability, adequacy and effectiveness of the Q&FS management programs
