This on-site role offers 35 hours per week (7 hours per day) and supports students with evidence-based mental health interventions within a dynamic educational setting. Responsibilities include: Providing individual and group mental health counseling to students, likely spanning K-12 age groups Employing verbal de-escalation techniques and behavioral interventions for crisis situations (using the TEACH method) Preparing relevant sections of the Individualized Education Program (IEP), collecting data, and monitoring progress for assigned caseload students Collaborating effectively with classroom teams, including related service providers, teachers, and paraprofessionals Qualifications: Masters degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling (Psychologists are not considered) At least two years experience working with children and parents, with the ability to conduct comprehensive mental health appraisals covering psycho/social/behavioral functioning and develop remediation plans aligned with research-based educational and therapeutic practices Florida Department of Education Certification in social work, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Mental Health Provider as per Chapter 491, Florida Statutes; alternatively, candidates with a Masters degree must become Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns within six months of hire and obtain clinical licensure within three years under supervision This contract assignment offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in supporting students mental health needs while working alongside a collaborative team.
