Experience in a Higher Education environment.

Experience with SSIS or Azure Data Factory.

Experience with Python/Pyspark.

Experience with API data extraction.

Experience with Power BI.

Position Summary

The Office of Institutional Research at the University of Georgia is seeking a skilled and motivated Data Warehouse Professional to join our team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our overall data infrastructure, which may include data warehouse, data lakes, and other storage solutions that support reporting and operational data needs across the institution. The successful candidate will collaborate with other data warehouse team members, DBAs, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient, secure, and effective data management practices that deliver high value to the university.

Understanding of data warehousing and lakehouse concepts (bronze, silver, gold layers).

Experience with traditional relational database systems (SQL Server, Oracle) and lakehouse environments like Microsoft Fabric or Databricks.

Proficiency with SQL (T‑SQL, Spark SQL) for data transformation, modeling and optimization.

Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS, Azure Data Factory or Microsoft Fabric Data Factory.

Skilled in Python or PySpark and creating notebooks for data processing and analytics.

Experience integrating structured and semi-structured data across different systems.

Awareness of data security, governance, and access controls in SQL Server or Microsoft Fabric.

Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.

Strong problem‑solving skills and eagerness to learn new technologies.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with both technical and functional staff at all levels.

Duties / Responsibilities (50%)

Design, develop, test, and implement ETL processes to integrate data from diverse sources into the data warehouse using SSIS, database objects, T‑SQL, and Python.

Design, develop, test, and implement data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric to ingest, transform, and load data from diverse sources into lakehouse and warehouse environments, leveraging Data Factory, Spark SQL, PySpark and notebooks.

Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand data integration requirements and business objectives.

Duties / Responsibilities (40%)

Provide technical support and ensure system availability, including occasional work outside normal business hours.

Support database migrations, upgrades, and updates.

Monitor data warehouse (ex. SSIS) and lakehouse (ex. pipeline) performance to identify capacity issues and bottlenecks.

Maintain technical documentation and support materials.

Stay current on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in data warehousing.

Adhere to UGA’s change management and version control procedures.

Follow USG and UGA data governance standards for data access, privacy, and security.
