Automotive Accounting Office Manager
to oversee the daily operations of the accounting department in our dealership. This role is critical to maintaining financial accuracy, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting overall dealership profitability. The ideal candidate has a strong background in automotive dealership accounting, excellent organizational skills, and leadership experience.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
Ensure accurate and timely processing of all dealership accounting transactions.
Reconcile schedules (floorplan, bank statements, warranties, etc.) monthly.
Prepare and submit monthly financial statements to ownership and/or the manufacturer.
Supervise and train office staff including title clerks, billing clerks, and accounting assistants.
Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations (including tax filings, DMV requirements, etc.).
Assist with internal and external audits.
Work closely with the General Manager and Department Managers to improve profitability and streamline processes.
Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures.
Monitor cash flow and dealership expenses.
Qualifications
3–5 years of accounting experience in an automotive dealership environment (required).
Prior experience in a management or supervisory role within dealership accounting.
Strong understanding of dealership accounting processes, and CDK.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting software.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience with dealership financial statement preparation and submission to OEMs.
Familiarity with automotive retail compliance (FTC, IRS, DMV, etc.).
