Treating Operator 3rd Shift
Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc. producer of Yellawood brand Pressure-Treated Pine is seeking a Lumber Treating Operator for a full-time position with competitive pay and full benefits package.
Summary Responsible for efficiently pressure treating wood products while maintaining quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Processes material through treatment by counting material to be treated into charges, enters information into computer system, selects treating cycle, and begins treatment.
Drills each charge to check for penetration of preservative, retention of preservative, and judges samples against set standards.
Records test results for inspection by third party inspector, maintains ledger with sample/test information.
Posts each charge into computer database system to relieve white wood inventory of product treated.
Monitors efficiency of treating schedules.
Checks solution in work tanks once per shift, collecting samples and running tests to check for all chemical components.
Logs solution test results into ledger and makes necessary adjustments to remain within standards.
Works in coordination with plant manager to track treating recipes, expenses, and any adjustments that need to be made in the treating process.
Maintains housekeeping in treating office, tank farm, and around cylinders.
Troubleshoots equipment problems or breakdowns.
Assists in picking up lumber and other materials as needed.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED preferred.
Three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Lumber experience a plus.
